Your Mother Doesn't Work Here.

Photographs by Brandon T. Bisceglia

The above photographs were taken in the bathrooms of Lafayette and Beacon Halls over the past week.

Do you think that most students at HCC have enough respect for their campus? What do you think motivates the kinds of behaviors depicted here?

No I do not believe students have enought respect for HCC campus, the faculty, the staff, nor even their fellow students. Once this campus respected the diversity of the student body and respected the opportunities available here at HCC. Nowadays, that respect is lost, and I am uncertain how to get it back. I try to be friendly and polite, but some people are just obnoxious on purpose, its not even a matter of not knowing how to behave. They KNOW right from wrong, they CHOOSE to be rude and sloppy and disrespectful. I don't know how this has happened, but I surely miss the old HCC!

It does seem as though the atmosphere has changed as the campus has grown. It's tough to say whether those two things are related. Still, I can't help but agree - I yearn for the smaller, more tightly-knit HCC.
